Light Lens Lab has announced the 35mm f/2 "Apochromatic," its first ground-up optical design and the first lens in a new High Performance Series. Unlike the company's previous work recreating or reinterpreting classic (mainly Leica) lenses, this M-mount manual-focus lens is an independently developed design built around chromatic-aberration correction, using 11 elements in 6 groups, including four aspherical elements and glass with ultra-low-dispersion and anomalous partial-dispersion properties. It has an 11-blade aperture, a new multilayer coating, an E39 filter thread, and a minimum focusing distance of 0.3 meters.
The lens will be sold in aluminum (Black Paint or Silver Chrome, $2,099) and a limited-edition Titanium Gray version ($2,399, preorder window August 10–September 10 only). It's also offered in two barrel styles with identical internal optics: a smooth barrel shipping first starting September 30, and a close-focus-knurled version following in December. Preorders open August 10, 2026. Light Lens Lab says a 50mm apochromatic lens is planned for 2027, with additional focal lengths to follow in the High Performance Series.
